The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is seeking a Toddler Program Assistant at Lealman YMCA Preschool Academy to provide nurturing early childhood care and education for toddlers. You will support safe, enriching activities and guidance aligned with YMCA values.

The role requires 18+, a high school diploma or equivalent, and related credentials; 6 months to 1 year preschool teaching experience, ability to lift up to 40 lbs, and pass background checks. Part-time position with hourly pay $16-$21.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Must have CDA credential or related college degree.
• Clear a Level 2 background check and pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities (arts & crafts, music, storytelling, outdoor play).
• Support positive behavior and foster social-emotional growth.
• Supervise daily routines like meals, free play, and playground time.
• Build strong relationships with families and conduct regular parent-teacher conferences.
• Maintain accurate classroom and program records.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and family engagement events.

• Plan and lead fun, age-appropriate activities-arts & crafts, music, storytelling, outdoor play, and more
• Support positive behavior and foster social-emotional growth
• Supervise daily routines like meals, free play, and playground time
• Build strong, positive relationships with families and conduct regular parent-teacher conferences
• Maintain accurate classroom and program records
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and family engagement events

Requirements:

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• CDA credential or a related college degree
• Completion of DCF Introductory Child Care Training (Parts 1 & 2)
• 6 months to 1 year of preschool teaching experience
• Able to lift up to 40lbs and actively engage with children both indoors and outdoors
• Pass a 10-panel drug screen.
• Clear a Level 2 background check*
