Job summary

Chesapeake Montessori is seeking an Assistant Teacher for our Toddler classroom. The role supports the lead teacher and helps create a warm, safe learning environment.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, prior early childhood education experience, and Montessori exposure is preferred. Shift is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with a pay range of $16–$17 per hour and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and ability to pass all background checks.
• Previous early childhood education experience is required.
• Montessori experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with all aspects of the classroom in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center.
• Implement activities that encourage each child’s growth in the areas of emotion, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive criticism, and feedback, and make improvements and changes as necessary for the betterment of the quality of the program.
• Create and maintain an environment that is clean and safe for all children.
• Establishing a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
