Job summary

Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a TMS Technician in Midtown to operate transcranial magnetic stimulation equipment for depression treatment, handling setup, safety screening, and patient monitoring.

The role involves assisting psychiatrists, performing neuronavigation-based treatments, completing daily checks, and documenting in EMR while providing patient education and support throughout multi-week courses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or actively pursuing one, or high-school diploma with relevant patient-facing experience.
• Prior experience in a patient-facing or clinical role.
• No prior TMS experience required; device training provided on the job.

Responsibilities

• Deliver TMS treatments - set up and operate the device, position and maintain the coil, and administer sessions per protocol.
• Assist the psychiatrist with motor-threshold determination and mapping.
• Learn and deliver neuronavigated treatment - use neuronavigation to localize and maintain the cortical target.
• Conduct daily patient check-ins - monitor comfort and tolerability, manage the session experience, and respond to concerns.
• Complete pre-treatment safety screening - TMS contraindications (seizure risk, metallic/electronic implants), pre-session checklists.
• Administer and score questionnaires / rating scales (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7) and track progress across the course.
• Patient coordination and scheduling - manage the multi-week treatment calendar and keep the course on track.
• Coordinate with the treating psychiatrist and the supervising psychiatrist on the team; elevate clinical or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain treatment-room readiness - equipment checks, supplies, cleaning, and room turnover.
• Accurate documentation in the EMR
• Provide patient education and support, building rapport across the treatment course
