Summary and Objective

Summary and Objective

The position of I&E Planner will be responsible for developing, managing, and controlling detailed project schedules, interfacing with the planning staff and field personnel. The role mandates adherence to company policies and procedures while maintaining professionalism in all business dealings, both internally and externally.

Essential Functions

  • Create and maintain a master work scope for tracking purposes.
  • Walk out shutdown jobs and develop job packages that include manpower, bill of materials, equipment needs, scaffolds/insulation needs, and other support needs.
  • Identify work types (pre‑shutdown, shutdown, post‑shutdown).
  • Read and understand P&ID’s and Loop Drawings.
  • Assist in developing shutdown budget and manpower requirements.
  • Assist scheduler on timing of jobs and sequence of jobs.
  • Prepare bid packages for contract work and review bid packages.
  • Build shutdown books for field supervisor.
  • Build files for each job with equipment drawing, plot plan location, job steps, material/parts list, specifications, and pictures.
  • Support scheduler in update reporting.
  • Identify long lead items.
  • Identify support crafts needed for shutdown.
  • Create logistic plan for work in shutdown area.
  • Manage a high‑volume workload.
  • Write status/progress reports.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced planning personnel.
  • Maintain poise and focus under time constraints and adverse conditions.
  • Attend and complete trainings as required by the Company.
  • Pass all required drug/alcohol testing and background checks as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position will have no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. It may require operating in a petrochemical/refinery environment with exposure to cold working conditions during winter and hot working conditions during summer, noise requiring hearing protection or elevated voice, and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals necessitating respirator use. The employee may need to be fit‑tested for various respirators and pass a pulmonary function test.

Physical Demands

Occasional standing, walking, sitting, and hand use to handle tools or controls. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a part‑time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as duties demand.

Travel

This position is approximately 90 % travel depending on the location of assignment.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related job experience in the petrochemical/refinery industry. Experience using PC software (Excel, Word, etc.) is required. The candidate must be flexible and adaptable to work in a dynamic team environment and also work independently or with minimal supervision unless a complex planning and scheduling task is involved.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent business experience. Practical knowledge of subcontracting activities typical to the engineering and construction industry. SAP or Maximo experience is preferred.
