Job summary

Coweta Public Schools is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support Native American/Alaskan students at Coweta High School. The position is 175 days, with 7 hours per day, under the supervision of licensed staff.

The role emphasizes tutoring, attendance monitoring, and collaboration with Indian Education leadership to ensure student success. Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or GED and may need Paraprofessional Certification.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Paraprofessional Certification may be required; the district can assist in obtaining it.

Responsibilities

Tutor Native American/Alaskan students not proficient in language arts or math under the supervision of a certified teacher.
Perform informal grade checks at least every five weeks.
Conduct attendance checks and call parents to encourage attendance for academic progress.
Coordinate with the Director of Indian Education and/or school counselor for home visits or additional support.
Maintain an active list of Indian students at each site.
Ensure 506 forms and Citizenship cards are on file with the District.
Submit quarterly Staff Reports to the Assistant Superintendent.
Perform other duties described by the building principal or district administration.
