COWETA PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking a Title VI (JOM) Teacher Assistant at Coweta Highschool for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on tutoring Native American/Alaskan students under supervision of a certified teacher, with regular checks and family outreach.

The position supports the Indian Education program, requires a high school diploma or GED, and may require Paraprofessional Certification. This is a 175-day, 7-hour per day assignment within the district.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Creativity and problem solving important for working with a team to run operations smoothly.
• Paraprofessional certification may be required or supported by the district.

Responsibilities

• Tutoring Native American/Alaskan students not proficient in language arts or math under a certified teacher.
• Do informal grade checks at least every five weeks.
• Do attendance checks and contact parents to encourage attendance.
• Coordinate with the Director of Indian Education and/or school counselor for students needing home visits or additional support.
• Maintain an active list of Indian students at each site.
• Ensure 506 forms and Citizenship cards are on file for Native American/Alaskan students.
• Submit quarterly Staff Reports to the Assistant Superintendent.
• Perform other duties assigned by the principal or district administration to benefit Native American/Alaskan Students.
