Job summary

RSU 29 is seeking a Title VI Educational Technician III to support Native American/Maliseet students across district schools. The role is funded by the Title VI Indian Education Grant and focuses on academic support, cultural connection, and student advocacy.

Working under indirect supervision, the Ed Tech III delivers targeted interventions, assists with cultural education projects, and maintains progress data and reporting for Maine DOE Title VI records.

Qualifications

  • Must have or be eligible for Maine DOE certification and pass background check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with classroom management and instructional duties as needed.
  • Maintain open communication between RSU 29, Title VI families and tribal programs.
  • Help incorporate culturally relevant materials and perspectives into sessions.
  • Track attendance, progress data, and session logs for reporting.
  • Assist with collecting Title VI eligibility forms per federal guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Title VI Educational Technician III 2026 - 2027 School Year

RSU 29 is seeking a dedicated, culturally responsive Title VI Educational Technician III to join our team serving students across our district schools. Supported by the federal Title VI Indian Education Grant (renewed annually), this role provides critical academic support, cultural connection, and student advocacy for Native American / Maliseet students and families in our school community.

Working under the indirect supervision of certified teaching staff and the Title VI Project Director, the Ed Tech III delivers targeted interventions, assists with cultural education projects, monitors student progress, and fosters strong relationships between the district, Native families, and local Tribal community resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and small-group academic intervention in reading, writing, math, and other core subjects for Title VI eligible students.
  • Modify learning materials and apply accommodations as directed by supervising educators to support diverse learning needs.
  • Perform short-term classroom management and instructional duties under indirect supervision when needed.
  • Assist in maintaining open, positive communication between RSU 29, Title VI families, and local Tribal community programs (including Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians educational services).
  • Help incorporate culturally relevant learning materials and perspectives into academic support sessions.
  • Track student attendance, academic progress data, and session logs required for Maine DOE and federal Title VI annual reporting.
  • Assist with collecting and maintaining Title VI Student Eligibility Certification forms (ED 506 forms) in compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • State Credentials: Valid (or immediate eligibility for) Maine Department of Education Educational Technician III Authorization (023).

Proper Maine DOE certification and background check required for all positions
