Job summary

Kaw Nation is seeking a Title VI Cook’s Assistant in Kaw City to support the Title VI program. You will assist in meal preparation, menu planning for dietary needs of elderly participants and staff, and help with food supply lists for ordering.

Responsibilities include sanitation, safety, temperature checks, daily record keeping, and occasional meal delivery to transporters. Requires a high school diploma (preferred), six months kitchen experience, and a valid driver’s license.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Prepares meals for Title VI program

1. Prepares menus in advance to meet the special dietary needs of elderly and employees

1. Prepares food supply lists for Program Director to order

• Raw food
• Kitchen supplies
• Utensils
• Kitchen staples

1. Responsible for all related kitchen duties and practices

• Sanitation
• Health
• Safety
• Food storage
• Temperature checks daily on food served, refrigerators, and freezers
• Responsible for specific cleaning duties

1. Record keeping of the following items:

• Daily meal count of all meals served
• Daily sign-in meal sheet
• Daily count of units of service
• Periodically surveys food likes and dislikes from participants

1. May at times deliver meals when needed to fill in for one of the transporters

1. Relationships to other position and organizational entities.

1. Work as a team in the kitchen with the assistant cook.

All new hires will be required by the Kaw Nation (post hire) to submit to an employment drug screen and background check. Failure to pass the post hire drug screen or the background check will lead to withdrawal of the job offer or termination of employment.
