Job Duties

The Division of Child & Family Health is responsible for the implementation of Virginia's Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block grant and supports over 75 programs across the Commonwealth that support women, infants, children, adolescents, and children and you with special health care needs. The MCH Title V Director is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the MCH Title V Block Grant Coordinator for the Office of Family Health Services at the Virginia Department of Health.

This position will lead the coordination of Virginia's Title V Block Grant managing the annual application and reporting cycle, ensuring timely submissions, and supporting alignment with federal requirements and the State Action Plan. The coordinator will facilitate cross division collaboration, track program performance, and support data informed decision making. The role will also convene key Title V meetings and events, oversee the MCH Applied Practice Network and its internship activities, and provide ongoing programmatic support in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.

This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant for a period of one year ending 9/30/2027. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Foundational knowledge of maternal and child health programs
  • Experience in public health program coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to develop program goals & objectives and to evaluate program effectiveness
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with health care professionals and the general public
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply grant guidance and administrative requirements
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners
Additional Considerations
  • Experience with state MCH Title V Block Grant programs preferred
  • Experience with university internship programs
  • Experience with maternal & child health programs
