Job summary

Whitefish Credit Union is seeking a Title Specialist I to manage the order and review of title products, ensure accuracy of legal descriptions and ownership, and follow up on final policies.

You will coordinate with Mortgage Loan Servicing and other departments, maintain communication on issues, and support reconveyance documentation while adhering to privacy guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or banking preferred.
  • 2–3 years recent professional experience at a title company or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Order and review all title products for accuracy of legal description, property ownership and exceptions.
  • Order and review closing documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Follow up on receipt of final title product and policies.
  • Reconcile title billing statements with Accounting Department as needed.
  • Research and prepare reconveyance documents.
  • Assist with proactive solutions to day-to-day title company issues.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title : Title Specialist I

Organizational Relationships : Reports to Mortgage Loan Servicing Supervisor

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

General Function: Order and review of title products and settlement statements, follow up on final policies, and review title company billing statements.

Position Functions:
  • Order and review all title products for accuracy of legal description, property ownership and exceptions.
  • Order and review of closing documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Follow up on receipt of all final title product and policies.
  • Reconcile title billing statements and work with Accounting Department, as necessary.
  • Research and prepare reconveyance documents.
  • Assist with determining proactive solutions to day-to-day title company/product issues and problems.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Mortgage Loan Servicing Manager, informing them of all pertinent problems, new developments, changes and other important information.
  • Cross-train with other department personnel as needed.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the phone with all internal and external stakeholders. Courtesy and tact are essential.
  • Ability and willingness to interact calmly and professionally with people from all backgrounds.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize day-to-day responsibilities with attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with others in an effective manner, listen well, share work-related information and be tolerant of others' work styles.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office; ability and willingness to work with a variety of office equipment and software systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs., with or without accommodation.
  • Complete mandatory annual BSA training that includes Red Flag, Identity Theft, OFAC, CTR and SAR reporting and thresholds, as well as the safe keeping of member information, and passes any applicable tests.
  • Follow all Whitefish Credit Union, Montana and Federal information privacy guidelines.
  • Adhere to all Whitefish Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Protect Member and Whitefish Credit Union confidential information.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or banking preferred.
  • 2-3 years recent professional experience at a title company or closely related field preferred.
