Job summary

Qualifications

  • Ability to administer standardized and other diagnostic tests.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  • Ability to work with staff, students and the public.
  • Computer knowledge including word processing, email and spreadsheets.
  • Previous experience preferred but not required.
  • Board may accept appropriate alternatives to the above qualifications.

II. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A. Minimum of two years of college or 48 college credits or a minimum score of 457 on the ParaPro Praxis.
  • B. Knowledge and skill in the teaching and use of math and reading including the ability to pronounce vowels, consonants, phrases, and words in a phonetically correct manner.
  • C. Ability to administer standardized and other diagnostic tests.
  • D. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  • E. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
  • F. Computer knowledge and experience with word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, etc.
  • G. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • H. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
III. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator.
IV. JOB GOALS:

To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.

To assist selected students improve their reading and math skills to enable them to reach their full potential.

V. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • A. Administers reading and math tests to identify the level of student achievement.
  • B. Works with the classroom teacher and Building Administrator to determine the instructional needs of each Title I student.
  • C. Works with small groups of students and with individual students in reading and math..
  • D. Maintains student files as requested and required by the needs of federal, state and local guidelines to track student progress.
  • E. Assists the Federal Programs Office in gathering a variety of data that is needed for reporting to state and/or federal agencies.
  • F. Attends in-service classes, building meetings, monthly program meetings and district meetings.
  • G. Prepares tutoring area for instructional activities and constructs learning materials.
  • H. Attends Parent Teacher Conferences for Title I students as requested.
  • I. Operates equipment (i.e. tape recorders, VCR's, overhead projectors and copy machines).
  • J. Assists students on arrival and departure from tutoring area.
  • K. Designs tutoring schedule for working with qualified Title I students.
  • L. Orders materials and supplies through the Building Administrator.
  • M. Communicates with parents and families as directed by teacher or administrator.
  • N. Maintains accurate records to assist in compiling data for a variety of reports required by state and federal agencies.
  • O. Participates in the school as a regular part of the staff and accepts supervision and other duties as requested.
  • P. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Q. Has regular and predictable attendance.
VI. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • A. Performs all other duties as assigned.

This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.

VII. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

These are part-time positionsscheduledfor up to 19.5 hours per weekduring the school year. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 5 - $16.39 or $17.19 (with a bachelors degree or 5 years relevant experience) per hour.

VIII. EVALUATION:

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
