Job Description

Position: Title I Tutor
Location: Washington K-5 Complex
Terms of employment: Part-time, grant-funded position, maximum of 18 hours per week
Hourly Rate:: $28.56/ hr.

General Description: The Title I Tutor provides targeted, small-group literacy and mathematics intervention to elementary students during the school day. Working under the direction of the Title I Director, classroom teachers, and curriculum specialists, the Title I Tutor uses student data to identify and address specific skill needs and provides supplemental instruction aligned with classroom learning and district priorities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted, evidence-based literacy and mathematics instruction to students in small-group settings during the school day.
  • Use student assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify specific instructional needs and target intervention.
  • Implement intervention plans and instructional strategies in collaboration with classroom teachers and Literacy and Math Specialists.
  • Coordinate regularly with classroom teachers to ensure intervention supports and reinforces Tier 1 classroom instruction.
  • Collaborate with curriculum specialists to align intervention instruction with district curriculum, grade-level standards, and identified priority skills.
  • Differentiate instruction based on student readiness, skill level, learning needs, and response to intervention.
  • Provide explicit instruction, guided practice, and opportunities for students to apply and demonstrate targeted skills.
  • Monitor student progress through ongoing formative assessment and other district-approved progress-monitoring measures.
  • Communicate regularly with classroom teachers, specialists, and school administrators regarding student progress and instructional needs.
  • Adjust intervention strategies and instructional approaches based on student progress and response to intervention.
  • Establish positive, supportive relationships with students and promote student confidence, engagement, and independence as learners.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with district policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience with children preferred
  • Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
