Job summary

Des Moines Public Schools is seeking a part-time Academic Interventionist (Title I) for Jackson Elementary in Des Moines, Iowa. The position supports MTSS through targeted, data-driven interventions for PK-3/K-6 learners with a K-8 reading endorsement required.

Qualified applicants will hold an Iowa teaching license with the specified endorsement; previous teaching experience and urban school setting experience are desired.

Qualifications

• Valid Iowa teaching license with a K-8 reading endorsement
• Elementary endorsement encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide strategic supplemental academic instruction to meet the individual needs of students
• Identify students in need of supplemental interventions to support core instruction
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, administration, and families to identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
• Plan and teach interventions based on the learning needs of students using high quality materials based in research
• Monitor student learning daily using multiple data points to guide instruction
• Ensure intervention sequence aligns with classroom instruction and MTSS
• Document interventions and monitor data in Panorama Students
• Participate in PLCs and literacy/math trainings for staff
• Assist in planning and implementation of building professional development
• Communicate with families regularly
• Meet the Iowa Teaching Standards
