Job summary

Grand Blanc Community Schools seeks a Highly Qualified Paraprofessional to support students in core content areas, including reading, writing, math, science and social studies. This role involves working with students individually and in small groups under the supervision of a classroom teacher.

Applicants must meet state guidelines, have 60 college credit hours or an associate degree or pass the state paraprofessional test, provide references, communicate effectively, and pass a background

Qualifications

• Meet state guidelines for Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals.
• 60 college credit hours (or 90 hours at Baker College) or an Associates Degree.
• Have passed a State-approved test (ETS Paraprofessional Assessment Test).
• Provide a list of work and personal references.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
• Able to work with students individually and in small groups.
• Pass a police background check.
• Be able to motivate students.
• Demonstrate effective organizational skills.
• Possess strong work habits.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group assistance to eligible students in core content area skills, strategies and concepts.
• Maintain confidentiality of information regarding all students.
• Participate in training as assigned (some outside of school day sessions possible).
• Follow teacher/instructional coach direction in delivering student assistance.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate mental/physical stamina for meeting the requirements of this position.
