Job summary

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher learning.
• Passed the paraprofessional exam to become highly qualified.
• Associates degree or higher and met one of the following requirements (post elementary work, references, or classroom assistant experience).

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher.
• Assist in planning learning experiences for the students.
• Assist in the production of instructional materials and use of technology.
• Assist in implementing classroom routines such as storing materials and cleaning work areas.
• Assist in instruction-related clerical tasks including scoring of student products.
• Work with students on activities, while the teacher works with small groups of students.
• Help in the monitoring of student learning.
• Tutor students to strengthen skills or concepts under the supervision of the teacher.
• Confer regularly with the classroom teacher about the programs and achievement of each student.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information/data.
• Help with the planning and implementation of after school parent meetings.
• Continuation of employment dependent upon Title 1 funding and program description.
• Successful interview with Building Principal.

Associates degree or higher

QUALIFICATIONS:

2. (2) Previous work experience in instructional program documented by letter(s) of references;
3. (3) Previous experience as a classroom assistant documented by letter(s) of reference and description of responsibilities.
