Job summary

Lynchburg City Schools is seeking an SY 26-27 Instructional Assistant - Title I at W. M. Bass Elementary School in Lynchburg, Virginia. Salary Grade: Schedule A or B; FLSA Status: Non-exempt; Reports to Building Administrator.

The position supports teachers and students through small group and individual instruction, routine classroom assistance, and supervision during meals, transitions, and arrival/dismissal, in a 10-month, full-benefits role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility, or an Associate’s Degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.
• Prior experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives.
• Works with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning objectives introduced by teacher.
• Provides programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by teacher.
• Assists with large and small group activities.
• Guides independent study and other work assigned by teacher.
