Job summary

Oak Park Elementary School District 97 is seeking a dedicated and dynamic part-time Title I Tutor to join our team. The role centers equity in tutoring services to positively impact student learning and employee practices.

The position aligns with Board Policy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity. The tutor will provide direct instruction to eligible students in reading and/or math, collaborate with teachers, and use assessments to guide instruction and report progress to support student

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Active Professional Educator License required.
  • Endorsements in reading and/or math preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct instruction to students identified for reading and/or math services in various settings.
  • Communicates regularly with classroom teachers regarding student progress.
  • Uses identified needs to guide instruction toward reading/math content standards.
  • Conducts student assessments to identify interventions and to plan instruction, providing progress reports as required.

About This Role

District 97 seeks a dedicated and dynamic part-time Title I Tutor to join our team. The Title I Tutor position will ensure that equity is at the center of the district's tutoring services to positively impact student learning and employee practices as expressed in Board Policy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for reading and/or math services in individual, small group, and/or full classroom settings.
  • Communicates regularly with classroom teachers regarding individual student progress.
  • Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of the district's reading or math content standards.
  • Conducts student assessments to identify intervention services, to plan instruction, and/or to assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
Knowledge Of
Content Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of reading and/or math content standards for a school district.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies for small groups, individuals, and full classroom settings.
  • Knowledge of various student assessment techniques.
  • Knowledge of equity-centered practices as expressed in Board Policy 7:12.
Skilled In
  • Skilled in providing direct instruction to students in reading and/or math.
  • Skilled in conducting student assessments to identify needs and plan instruction.
  • Skilled in communicating student progress with classroom teachers.
  • Skilled in using assessment data to guide the learning process and improve student achievement.
Ability To
  • Ability to assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis.
  • Ability to provide progress reports as required.
  • Ability to assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques.
  • Ability to positively impact student learning and employee practices through an equity-centered approach.
Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Applicable Professional Educator License, Required
  • Endorsements in reading and/or math preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Previous experience preferred.
Physical Requirements

This position requires the performance of light workwhich requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking, climbing stairs and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere. The position requires indoor and outdoor supervision during varying temperatures and climatic conditions.
