Job Summary

Coordinates the acquisition, processing, and banking of human tissue specimens from surgical and autopsy patients. Handles routine data entry, specimen inventory, and logistics of disbursement. Provides guidance to tissue bank technicians and ensures compliance with protocols.

Essential Functions
  • Collect, process, and store human biological materials based on established protocols.
  • Perform routine data entry into specimen inventory system.
  • Pull samples to fill requests based on PBC customer projects.
  • Order lab supplies.
  • Use personal protective equipment and adhere to all applicable protocols and guidelines.
  • Prepare samples and records for disbursement.
  • Act as the point of contact for tissue bank technicians.
  • Perform inventory maintenance and data entry functions.
  • Review the operating room schedule to identify eligible cases for researcher projects.
  • Collaborate closely with the Department of Pathology.
  • Process may include, but is not limited to, aliquoting blood products, gross dissection of tissue, and PBMC isolation.
  • Rotation at other PBC labs is required.
Physical Effort
  • Walking to and from locations within the hospital.
  • Standing for long periods at the bench.
  • Reading small print on tubes, cryovials, and labels.
  • Lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Bending and lifting supplies to put them away.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Combination of education and experience considered.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and multi‑tasking skills.
