Job summary

Saia Inc. is seeking a tire mechanic to support fleet maintenance by installing and inspecting tires and rims on tractor-trailers.

You will remove and install tire and rim assemblies on class 6, 7, and 8 trucks and other trailers, use hydraulic jacks, and inspect wear, inflation and safety. Qualified applicants must be at least 18, have a high school diploma or GED, be authorized to work in the United States, and provide personal maintenance tools.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Remove and install tire and rim assemblies on class 6, 7, and 8 trucks, trailers, and converter dollies.
• Uses hydraulic jacks and stands to gain access to the unit and replace tire assemblies.
• Operates, lifts, moves, and stores specialized equipment to maintain, inspect, and repair tires or rims.
• Repairs tires outside the maintenance facility utilizing a service truck.
• Inspects tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation.
• Disposes of old tires in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Mounts and dismounts tires or rims using specialized tire machines.
