Job summary

Transdev North America seeks an experienced Trailer Technician to perform routine maintenance and repair on Class 8 trucks and trailers, focusing on tire repair and replacement. You work under supervision to support safety and reliability of our customers' assets.

Responsibilities include basic maintenance, PMs with guidance, maintaining records, and supporting road calls. Benefits include paid time off, 401(k), medical/dental/vision, and ASE testing support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Class B CDL preferred.
  • ASE Certification preferred (expect to have 1 ASE within 24 months of hire).
  • 0-1 years of automotive or diesel repair experience or equivalent education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic maintenance and limited repairs on Class 8 trucks and trailers.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Maintain service records of parts and repairs.
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as needed.
  • Adhere to Transdev standards, policies and procedures.

Job description

Transdev is seeking an experienced Trailer Technician to bolster our team. This position will perform routine maintenance and repair work on Class 8 trucks and trailers, and other vehicles (pickups, small trailers, etc.) which adheres to Transdev standards. These duties will primarily be focused on tire repair and replacement. But they may included other repairs and maintenance under the direction of a more highly skilled position. This may include but is not limited to tire maintenance, fulfilling service calls for repair, conducting visual inspections of vehicles and related work as assigned. As a Tire Technician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and longevity of our customers assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs with minimal supervision on basic maintenance such as replacement of light bulbs, fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, check fluid levels, change fluids and filters and lubricate components.
  • Assist Tech II or III with preventative maintenance (PM’s), safety maintenance inspections and annual maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals of time and usage.
  • Assist in the performance of mechanical repairs including the repair of brakes, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used. Ensure that work orders are completed properly and accurately
  • Diagnoses and performs accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under direct supervision.
  • Evaluates completed work prior to release and seeks approval where required
  • Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken
  • Moves vehicles safely between job and work area
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary
  • Adhere to Transdev standards, policies and procedures
  • Cleans vehicles as requested or required
  • Other responsibility as requested or required
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred)
  • Class B CDL preferred.
  • ASE Certification preferred. (expected to have 1 ASE within 24 months of hire)
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 0-1 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience
  • Adhere to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
  • The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
