Gills Point S Tire & Auto in The Dalles, OR is seeking an experienced Tire & Lube Technician to perform tire services, maintenance, and light repairs while delivering outstanding customer service.

As a Service Technician II, you will inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles, communicate findings, and ensure customers leave with confidence in safety and performance. Great entry to mid-level opportunity with growth potential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience with automotive, tire or mechanical work is preferred.
• Technical or vocational automotive training is a plus.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Familiarity with tire mounting, balancing, and repair equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift heavy tires and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and service tires, perform mounting, balancing, rotation and repairs.
• Conduct preventive maintenance including oil and fluid checks.
• Perform light mechanical repairs and replacements.
• Greet customers, explain findings, and document service work.
• Assist with inventory, receiving, and maintaining a clean shop.

We’re looking for a Tire & Lube Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is confident performing tire services, preventative maintenance, and light mechanical repairs while delivering outstanding customer service.

What You'll Do

As a Service Technician II, you'll inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles while ensuring every customer leaves with confidence in the safety and performance of their vehicle.

Tire Services

• Mount, dismount, balance, rotate, and repair passenger and light truck tires.
• Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation.
• Recommend tire replacement and maintenance based on vehicle condition.
• Perform TPMS service and understand wheel configurations, bolt patterns, valve stems, and tire specifications.

Preventative Maintenance

• Perform oil and filter changes.
• Inspect and top off vehicle fluids, including coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid.
• Perform coolant, brake, and transmission fluid exchanges.
• Replace air, cabin, and fuel filters.
• Complete comprehensive vehicle inspections and communicate findings.

Basic Mechanical Repairs

• Perform light mechanical repairs and replacements, including:
  • Brakes
  • Suspension components
  • Steering components
  • Wiper blades
  • Batteries
  • Headlights and taillights
• Recognize dashboard warning indicators and identify potential maintenance concerns.

Customer Service

• Greet customers professionally and understand their service needs.
• Explain inspection findings and maintenance recommendations.
• Maintain accurate service documentation.
• Assist with inventory, receiving, and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Automotive, tire, or mechanical experience preferred.
• Technical or vocational automotive training is a plus.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Familiarity with tire mounting, balancing, and repair equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift heavy tires and equipment and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Professional Development

TIA Certification is not required at hire. We'll provide the training and support you need to earn your certification and continue advancing your career.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 75 pounds, and safely operating shop equipment while working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to perform work both inside the shop and outdoors in varying weather conditions while following all company safety policies.
