Position Summary

The Banquet Server will provide ultimate hospitality for guests in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.

This role pays an hourly rate of $5.00–$6.00 and is tip eligible.

About the Venue

The Virginia Tech Club at the University Club of Virginia Tech is an elite Blacksburg social club that offers premium dining, memorable events, and meeting spaces with engaging programming designed to bring fans, faculty, alumni, and the business community together.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand Banquet Event Orders.
• Provide fine dining‑level food and beverage service to guests on all events.
• Initiate and maintain friendly and professional contact with guests, ensuring all needs are anticipated and met.
• Setup and maintain food and beverage stations throughout the property.
• Maintain inventory for food and beverage stations.
• Keep all event areas and front‑of‑house staging areas tidy and organized.
• Participate in setup and cleanup of service items, working independently during slower times.
• Perform safe work to help provide a safe and clean environment.
• Have a high level of social contact; work closely with staff and patrons.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred; equivalent experience may substitute.
• 1 year of experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred.
• Meet age requirement to serve alcoholic drinks.Consistently punctual with attendance.
• Respond to simple complaints or inquiries from customers, members of the business community, and/or regulatory agencies.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
• Detail‑oriented, ensuring work is accurate and complete.
• Ability to multitask.
• Customer‑focused, positive, and professional attitude.
• Strong communication skills.
• Basic arithmetic knowledge.
• Can carry at least 8 entries per tray.
