Potbelly Sandwich Works is hiring associates to deliver fast, friendly service in a busy kitchen environment. You will engage with customers, assemble sandwiches and desserts, and help maintain a clean, inviting store during shifts.

Starting pay ranges from $15.25 to $15.75 per hour with digital tips. Benefits include insurance, parental leave, commuter perks and a 401(k) with company match where eligible.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• Friendly, customer-first mindset for fast-paced environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment; knife skills a plus.
• Able to manage allergens (peanuts, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, shellfish).
• Able to stand/walk 3 hours+; lift 10 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally.
• IL applicants must become food safety certified within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Work across multiple stations (load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, front) as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety.
• Restock food line, chips and cooler.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream) efficiently.
• If 18 or older, operate the automatic slicer for items.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate the cash register: handle, balance and follow cash handling procedures.
• Address customer complaints/issues effectively.
• Take delivery/catering/pickup orders over the phone.
• Other duties as assigned.
