Job summary

LE0024 Transforming Age Associates, LLC, at The Timbers in Apple Valley, MN, is hiring a dining assistant/server. You will help residents choose meals, present menus, take orders, relay them to the kitchen and deliver meals promptly.

Experience with POS systems and strong English communication are preferred. 15 years of age or older required; background check and drug screen may be required by state guidelines; prior long-term care exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must pass background check and drug screen.
• Previous server experience preferred.
• 6+ months in long-term care or related field preferred.
• POS experience with transaction systems.

• Present menu to residents, answer questions and make suggestions regarding meal choices.
• Record orders and relay them to the kitchen production area.
• Know menu choices, including ingredients and preparation methods.
• Work efficiently and quickly to deliver food to residents, aiding them as needed.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables for the next meal service.
• Assist with light back‑of‑house/kitchen duties (e.g., salad bar, soup service, portion desserts, brew coffee or other services as needed).
• Assist with clearing tables and observe residents to ensure safety in dining areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Wage: $11.50-$12.50 DOE

The Timbers is an independent living community nestled in beautiful Apple Valley, Minnesota.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with meal selection, including ordering from the menu, buffet/a la carte item selection, and assistance with any buffet stations (e.g., salad bar, breakfast bar).
• Present menu to residents, answer questions and make suggestions regarding meal choices.
• Record orders and relay them to the kitchen production area.
• Know menu choices, including ingredients and preparation methods.
• Work efficiently and quickly to deliver food to residents, aiding them as needed.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables for the next meal service.
• Assist with light back‑of‑house/kitchen duties (e.g., salad bar, soup service, portion desserts, brew coffee or other services as needed).
• Assist with clearing tables and observe residents to ensure safety in dining areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least 15 years of age.
• Previous server experience highly preferred.
• 6 months or more in long‑term care, home care, or related field preferred.
• Software experience using POS (point‑of‑sale) transactional systems.
• Effective English verbal and written communication skills.
• Must pass a background check and pre‑employment drug screen; may need to complete other pre‑employment screenings such as physical, fingerprint, and TB test as required by state/local guidelines.
