Job description

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer serves as the TIGER Team coordinator and issue leader, rapidly driving cross-functional investigation and resolution of internal and external quality issues. This role owns structured issue intake, evidence-based problem definition, containment verification, action management, trial coordination, and closure support. The engineer connects Quality, Processing, Tooling, Automation, Manufacturing, Lean CI, and plant leadership to identify true root cause and implement verified, sustainable poka-yoke solutions. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.

Essential Functions
  • Lead daily intake and prioritization for customer complaints, QIPs/CS2, hold tickets, audit findings, red stamps, and QES escalations.
  • Coordinate the daily TIGER Team review, assign actions, maintain the central accountability log, and drive timely follow-up and closure.
  • Own structured problem solving from problem definition through verified corrective action, including clean point verification, containment confirmation, failure backtracking, and root-cause validation.
  • Create and maintain Manufacturing Work Requests (MWRs) and coordinate trials, experiments, and countermeasure implementation with Process, Tooling, Automation, Manufacturing, and Lean CI.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based technical input for 8D responses and customer communication while ensuring internal actions and supporting records remain aligned.
  • Verify corrective-action effectiveness and confirm permanent controls or poka-yoke are implemented before recommending closure.
  • Monitor TIGER Team performance, including investigation response, action closure, repeat issues, complaint closure time, and verified poka-yoke completion.
  • Verify corrective-action effectiveness and confirm permanent controls or poka-yoke are implemented before recommending closure.
  • Identify and develop the improvement of equipment, processes, and methods.
Other Functions
  • Support production troubleshooting and escalation response when immediate quality risk exists.
  • Develop standard investigation workflows, checklists, evidence expectations, and lessons learned for recurring failure modes.
  • Coach cross-functional participants in disciplined problem solving, documentation, and fact-based decision making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Success in this role will require
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, prioritization, and action-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to distinguish verified facts from assumptions and drive data-based root-cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of injection molding, manufacturing quality systems, control plans, traceability, containment, and 8D methodology.
  • Ability to communicate concise technical findings to plant leadership, Quality Service, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient use of MES, ERP, QMS/QES, reporting, and project/action-tracking systems.
  • High sense of urgency, ownership, follow-through, and accountability without sacrificing investigation rigor.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with hourly production personnel, engineering functions, and leadership.
  • Practical knowledge of mistake proofing, verification planning, and corrective-action effectiveness.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Plastics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional engineering, manufacturing quality, or structured problem-solving experience; injection molding experience preferred.
  • Experience leading corrective action, root-cause analysis, 8D, or similar investigation methods.
  • Green Belt Certification (preferred)
  • Project and action-management experience with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, with an acceptable driving record, along with adequate insurance
