Job summary

PROENERGY in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced TIG welder to repair turbine subcomponents using GTAW. You will read work instructions, measure with micrometers, calipers, and height gauges, and prep/weld steels and super-alloys. Candidates must have 5 years TIG welding experience, pass a GTAW weld test, and be fluent in English; US work authorization and pre-employment screening are required. The role involves manufacturing jigs and assemblies under limited supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience PLUS 5 years’ experience TIG welding of super-alloys.
• Must pass a weld test for GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) in 1G horizontal.
• All plate weld coupons are subject to CWI inspection, and bend test before any applicant can be hired.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
• US work authorization is a precondition of employment; no sponsorship.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work instructions provided.
• Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauge and measuring tape.
• Prep and weld common steels, alloys, joints and geometry.
• Manufacture jigs, chills, argon backups, etc. to do their job.
