Job summary

Barnes Group is seeking a skilled TIG welder for the night shift in East Granby, CT. You will weld, repair, and replace aircraft parts, ensuring compliance with specifications and production schedules.

The role requires 3+ years in aerospace, ability to pass welding tests, and the reading of complex blueprints. High school diploma required; FAA/DOT testing applies. This is a safety sensitive position with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform TIG welding to repair/replace damaged areas and cracks on aircraft parts and fixtures.
• Welding on titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, and nickel alloys following procedures.
• Collaborate with Engineering to develop programs, determine methods and materials.
• Inspect welds for bead size and compliance; measure dimensions with calipers and micrometers.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.

Pay rate + 17% Shift Differential
Shift: Mon - Fri 10:30pm-7:00 am

Your Expertise:

• 3+ years in aerospace environment
• Ability to pass welding tests for aircraft welding certifications
• Good mathematical skills
• Knowledge/Practical experience in aerospace environment
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents

Your Challenge:

• Perform all types of TIG welding to repair/replace damaged areas and cracks on aircraft parts and fixtures. Perform TIG welding operations on aircraft components to meet NDT specifications and ensure efficient flow of work to meet production schedules and demands.
• Perform TIG welding operations on titanium, aluminum, stainless steel and Nickel alloy parts, following standardized working procedures and parameters.
• Work with Engineering to develop programs, determine new methods, develop parameters, and determine material type for new or modified products. Assist with developing new tooling ideas.
• Inspect weld for bead sized and compliance with other specifications. Blend, grind, or polish weld ensuring specified minimum wall requirement is met. Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to measure repaired part and ensure dimensional requirements are met. Complete production paperwork.
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and machines.

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
