Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis LLC, a world-class supplier of power generation services, parts, and repairs, has an immediate opening for a qualified individual who desires to join a growing organization and has an appetite for diverse and technically challenging work.
The candidate will be responsible for fabricating and welding gas turbine components, sheet metal, and casting turbine engine components.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Weld/Repair GE-type Buckets/Nozzles/shrouds and combustion.
- Set up and layout jobs using blueprints, diagrams, routers, and fixtures and be able to follow proper TIG welding procedures.
- Inspect, maintain, and log preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
- Set up all associated machines and equipment according to work instructions, including but not limited to trim, size, and form.
- Visual inspect welds using fillet weld gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and final weld fixtures.
- Perform weld inspections for size, face and root reinforcement, cracks, inclusions, and porosity.
- Daily compliance with all customer drawings and specifications to maintain high-quality standards.
- Comply with all internal manufacturing safety standards, general shop housekeeping, and company teaming environment.
- Comply with internal quality system and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other related duties assigned by management.
Requirements
Experience:
- I – no experience required
- II – minimum 2 years experience
- III – minimum 5 years experience
- High School Diploma/GED/Apprenticeship classes or trade school (all levels)
- Welding vocational school training or experience in TIG and stick welding - MIG and sub-arc welding is a plus (level II and level III)
- Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as required.
- Basic knowledge of TIG Welding procedures, practices, and techniques required to weld and/or fuse metals together (all levels)
- Familiar with Power Generation equipment.
- Familiar with NDE techniques such as dye penetrates.
- Knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools associated with TIG welding, such as chipping hammer, grinder, sander, etc. (all levels)
- Knowledge and ability to use standard precision measuring instruments and hand tools such as tape measure, level, square, file or rasp, etc. (all levels)
- Ability to read, understand, and follow company repair procedures and directions (all levels)
- Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, procedures, and other specifications (level III)
- Familiar with power generation equipment (Gas Turbines) (level II and level III)
- Ability to weld in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions (level II and level III)
- Strong customer service experience in explaining and discussing needed repairs and being able to determine scheduling time frame (level III)
- Ability to lead other diaphragm welders and supervise work being performed at the customer site (level III)
- Knowledge of arithmetic (all levels)
- Good visual and auditory acuity (all levels)
- Good oral and written communication skills (all levels)
