Job summary

Active Dynamics Novi is seeking an eager Welder to join our team. You will perform TIG welding and finish welds on muffler components, read blueprints, and operate weld equipment while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Typical duties include setup, quality checks, data documentation, and adherence to 5S and housekeeping practices in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years welding experience preferred.
• Proficiency with TIG welding and blueprints reading.

Responsibilities

• Run and set up welding equipment as directed.
• Perform quality checks to ensure conformity to specs.
• Document and record data per work instructions.
• Maintain weld fixtures and perform routine machine checks.
• Complete finish/cosmetic welds on muffler components.

Summary

This position reports to the Operations Manager of the department. The incumbent ensures that product is welded to process, quality & required efficiency levels.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs the running of the equipment set up by others or independently
• Performs required quality checks to ensure product is in compliance and in specification
• Notifies Group Leader and/or Supervisor(s) of product defects or other serious occurrences
• Documents and records all necessary information/data as per work cards and other company requirements
• Performs equipment operational checks
• Verify weld fixtures are maintained
• High to low volume mix; low to high effort; all Level 1 muffler builds (internal/external) finish weld
• Performs finish/cosmetic welds on product show surface
• Performs proper housekeeping, clean-up and 5 S requirements
• Performs all duties according to safety standards and company policies
• Sets up and troubleshoot weld machines
• Reads all five basic weld joints (Butt, Lap, Corner, Tee, or Edge Joint)
• Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

Desired Skills

• 1 to 3 years of related work experience
• Certification and/ or technical training desired
• Proficient with TIG welding
• Able to read blueprints
• Capable of finish welding
• Strong Computer Skills
• Possesses good understanding of general aspects of the job
• Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific areas of discipline
• Good mathematical skills
• Moderate supervision from senior personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Must pass both written and practical weld test

Weekly Schedule

First Shift Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM.

Subject to assessment of skills and qualifications by Active following a 90 working days probationary period.
