Job description

Position Purpose

The Tig Welder will fit, join, and repair metal and other weldable materials using appropriate welding techniques in accordance with product specifications and production schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Perform welding duties using a TIG welder.
  • Use welding equipment to weld steel components as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
  • Work with others to assist in the welding of multi‑component parts.
  • Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the job.
  • Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications.
  • Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and work orders.
  • Be willing to cross‑train and perform other job tasks as needed.
  • Communicate with management for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly; perform basic preventive maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Suggest and implement improvements.
  • Complete all required safety procedures before and during operations.
Qualifications
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency with tape measure, caliper, and basic shop math (including fraction to decimal conversion).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids.
  • Experience operating a forklift.

Work Requirements
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy weight.
  • Squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, and reaching overhead.
  • Standing and walking 1–12 hours per day, up to 6 days a week.
  • Work in a non‑temperature controlled, fast‑paced industrial environment wearing vision and hearing protection and appropriate protective clothing.
