Job summary

Leidos is hiring a Tier II Network Technician in the United States to support and maintain computer data communications systems. Job description

Tier II Network Technician

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos has an opening for a Tier II Network Technician to support computer data communications systems, including design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; planning and implementing upgrades; and analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software solutions through network modeling.

Responsibilities
  • Support the installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices.
  • Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
  • Draft and implement standard network change requests.
  • Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects, such as site surveys, TEMS, and coordination of new equipment installation.
  • Perform configuration management functions, including updating topology drawings, ensuring accurate asset management records, and conducting inventory.
  • Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades (knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process).
  • Maintain Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, SM/MM fiber, serial cables, SFP).
  • Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 switching (VLANs, port security, thin configs).
  • Utilize Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade, and Foundry OS.
  • Have familiarity with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE, as well as Visio, ServiceNow, and Confluence.
  • May have up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Required Clearance: TS/SCI with Poly.
  • Candidate must have 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, a master’s and 4 years, a bachelor’s and 6 years, an associate’s and 8 years, or a high school diploma and 10 years.
  • Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and the OSI model.
  • Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals.
  • Ability to travel 25 percent of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Position requires office presence at least 5 days per week and is only located in the posted location(s). No relocation is offered.
