Job summary

Quantum Sky Engineering LLC is seeking a Tier 2 SOC Analyst to support a federal government customer in Washington, DC. The role requires working in a 24x7x365 SOC environment with a Day Shift (7 AM–7 PM, Mon-Wed and every other Sunday).

You will monitor security events, perform triage, collect and analyze evidence, and collaborate with teams to improve the organization’s security posture via EDR, SIEM, and forensic techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years of cybersecurity experience.
• IAT Level I security certification (8570 Baseline).
• Clear understanding of Tier 2 duties and IR duties.
• Strong communication to diverse audiences.
• Ability to conduct security risk assessments and produce reports.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, SMTP, SSH, etc.
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Familiarity with IDS, EDR, SIEM technologies.
• Experience with reading PCAP and log analysis.

Responsibilities

• Monitor network traffic for security events and triage incidents.
• Collect, analyze, and preserve digital evidence for incidents.
• Collaborate with teams to assess risk and improve security posture.
• Conduct host forensics, EDR, log analysis, and network forensics.
• Support root-cause analysis and investigative alerts.
• Identify IOs and indicators of compromise to improve monitoring and response.
• Work with stakeholders to implement remediation plans after incidents.
• Prepare end-of-shift reports for knowledge transfer.
