Job summary

The Salvation Army Gainesville Thrift Store in Gainesville, FL is seeking a part-time associate with benefits to assist customers, process sales, and maintain accurate cash handling. Typical schedule is 7-8 hours per day, 3-4 days per week, with up to 29 hours weekly and some Saturdays required.

You will ring up sales, balance the cash drawer, sort donations, stock merchandise, and help with displays while upholding security procedures and customer service standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience in retail or customer service preferred.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics and ability to count
• Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Ring up sales using a cash register; collect monies, count change, and provide receipts.
• Prepare and balance cash drawer; process and balance routine register print-outs.
• Receive, inspect, and sort donated items according to category and condition.
• Tag items with codes/prices; assist in displaying and stocking merchandise.
• Pack items for customers and transport boxes as needed within store.
• Maintain neatness and security of the cash wrap and storage areas.
• Assist in preparing bank deposits and maintain accurate sales records.
