Job summary

The Carlyle Group in Washington, DC is seeking a Threat Detection Engineer, Manager who will lead detection engineering and threat intelligence, turning intelligence into production detections and improving security operations. You will oversee detection content lifecycle, drive quality, and collaborate with security partners to raise detection coverage and response capability.

This role blends hands-on engineering with leadership, mentoring contributors, and shaping Carlyle's Threat Detection

Qualifications

• Concentration in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, engineering or related field is strongly preferred or equivalent experience.
• Advanced degree is preferred.
• Relevant security certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own detection content lifecycle across multiple domains and ensure alert context for analysts.
• Develop high-fidelity detections across endpoint, identity, email, network, cloud telemetry.
• Translate adversary behaviors and threat intel into testable detection hypotheses and production analytics.
• Coordinate threat hunts and collaborate with partners to validate findings and improve detections.
