Job summary

Vanguard is seeking a Manager of Threat Detection Engineering to lead a team within the CSOC. You will shape strategy, mature detection capabilities, and partner across Threat Hunting, Adversary Emulation, and Incident Management.

You’ll translate adversary behaviors into scalable detections across the security stack, delivering measurable outcomes. You will drive hiring, training, and performance, while guiding a team that evolves in a dynamic threat landscape and champions detection-as-code

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
• 7+ years in security ops, detection engineering, threat hunting, incident response, or related.
• People management experience in a security engineering context.
• Hands-on experience tuning detections in SIEM platforms and with SOAR tooling.
• Strong knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, TTPs, and detection strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor threat detection engineers, driving excellence and learning.
• Define the detection engineering roadmap aligned to CSOC strategy.
• Oversee content delivery across SIEM, EDR, CNAPP, and related platforms.
• Drive automation, CI/CD pipelines, and detection testing frameworks.
• Report on metrics, program health, and detection coverage to leadership.
