Job summary

Barracuda seeks a highly technical security professional to join our team, focused on identifying emerging threats and translating that knowledge into actionable detection and defensive capabilities.

You will explore threat intelligence, perform adversary emulation, and collaborate with Threat Intelligence, XDR, Incident Response, and Product teams to continuously improve Barracuda’s detection capabilities and secure our customers’ environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in offensive security, threat research, threat intelligence, detection engineering, incident response, or related field.
• Strong understanding of modern attacker tradecraft and real-world adversaries.
• Experience researching vulnerabilities, exploits, malware, or emerging attack techniques.
• Experience translating adversary behaviors into detection opportunities or defensive requirements.
• Hands-on adversary emulation, red teaming, pen testing, or attack simulation.
• Experience developing or validating detections using SIEM, EDR, XDR, cloud, identity, or network telemetry.
• Strong scripting/programming skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar.
• Experience with Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems.
• Understanding of MITRE ATT&CK framework and mapping behavior to detections.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify emerging threats and adversarial techniques before they become operationally significant.
• Convert threat intelligence into meaningful detection opportunities.
• Discover detection blind spots and develop telemetry to close them.
• Continuously validate detections against realistic adversary behavior.
• Improve visibility into attack paths and TTPs relevant to Barracuda customers.
• Increase measurable detection coverage against relevant threats.
• Collaborate with Threat Intelligence, security operations, and product teams to improve detections.
• Develop automation to speed up detection validation.
