Job summary

Precision Castparts in Garden Grove, CA is seeking a Thread Roll Operator to perform light set ups on thread rolling machines and roll external threads for fastener products.

You will set up and operate equipment, adjust controls, inspect parts with gauges and micrometers, follow SOPs, work safely, and support continuous production with accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Must read and write English.
• Basic shop math with fractions and decimals.
• Basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.
• Basic knowledge of machine tools.
• Interpret written shop traveler instructions.
• Capable of setting up and running parts as required.
• 1-2 years machining experience.
• Some knowledge of comparator and induction heater preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work safely under PPE and safety guidelines.
• Identify parts to the shop traveler ensuring prior ops are complete.
• Set up, operate, or tend machines to roll threads per specs.
• Adjust controls and tool settings to maintain tolerances.
• Crank cycles and adjust tool positions to ensure timing and tolerances.
• Inspect samples with gauges and micrometers for conformance.
• Follow SOPs to check, test, login/logout, and log good parts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Position Summary: The Thread Roll Operator individual responsible to perform light set ups of secondary and fabricating thread rolling machines to roll external threads for manufacture of all types of related fastener products.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
• Identify parts to the shop traveler ensuring that all prior operations have been completed.
• Set up, operate, or tend machines to roll steel forming bends, beads, knurls, rolls, or plate or to flatten, temper, or reduce gauge of material according to shop traveler specifications and operation procedures.
• Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
• Crank machines through cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances.
• Inspect sample work pieces to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Follow standard operating procedures to check, test, login, logout, and thread roll good quality parts, coordinating with department’s supervisor or lead during the process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• The ability to read and write English.
• An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.
• A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.
• A basic knowledge of machine tools.
• The ability to interpret written instruction on shop travelers.
• Capable of setting up and running parts as required.

Required Experience

• 1-2 years of machining experience.
• Some knowledge of comparator and induction heater preferred but not required.

Level Of Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Proficiency in using Micrometer for precision measurements
• Experience with Tooling in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with SAP EWM software
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately
