Job summary

Loyola Medicine in the Chicago area is seeking a Surgical Assistant to join a busy, academic quaternary care system. You will work under surgeon supervision to support operations across our three-hospital network and regional partners in Cook, Will and DuPage counties.

Responsibilities include positioning patients, preparing skin, endoscopic vein harvest, hemostasis, and assisting with dressings. Licensure and ABSA certification are required, with BLS and Illinois license active.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification by the American Board of Surgical Assistants.
• State of Illinois Surgical Assistant license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical assistance, under the direct supervision of the surgeon to assist in carrying out an operation with optimal results for the patient.
• Positioning the patient, preparing the skin, endoscopic vein harvest, and visualization of the operative site.
• Assists with hemostasis, closure of body planes and selection and application of dressings and splints.
• Will also assist with thoracic organ procurement.

What you'll do:

Minimum Qualifications

• High school Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
• Certification by the American Board of Surgical Assistants
• State of Illinois Surgical Assistant license
• Basic Life Support certification

Compensation:

Pay Range: $32.90-$57.06 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
