Job summary

Loyola Medicine, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking a part-time Surgical Assistant to support operating room teams at our Chicago area campuses. The role requires 1–2 years of related experience, a High School Diploma, and CPR–BLS certification.

Certification as a Surgical Assistant is preferred. The Surgical Assistant will position patients, prep skin, assist with hemostasis, and help with closure and dressings under the surgeon's supervision to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Required: CPR - Basic Life Support.
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Position the patient and prepare the skin for surgery.
• Provide visualization of the operative site under supervision.
• Assist with hemostasis, closure of body planes, and dressings.
• Support the surgeon during procedures to optimize patient outcomes.

What you’ll do

The Surgical Assistant provides technical assistance, under the direct supervision of the surgeon to assist in carrying out an operation with optimal results for the patient. Clinical skills performed will include positioning the patient, preparing the skin and providing visualization of the operative site. Assists with hemostasis, closure of body planes and selection and application of dressings and splints.

What you’ll need for this job

• High School Diploma required.

Compensation

Pay Range: $32.25-$54.35 per hour. Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
