Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Thoracic Surgery team, with duties in inpatient care and hospital-wide medical coordination. This full-time role offers work in a high-acuity surgical setting while contributing to broader hospital care.

Requirements include PA program graduate status, NCCPA certification, active PA license, and 2+ years in surgical/acute care. A strong ICU background and skilled procedures are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in surgical or acute care settings (CT Surgery preferred).
• Strong ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.
• Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for thoracic patients from initial assessment through ICU care.
• Assist in diagnosis and surgical management of thoracic diseases, including cancer.
• Perform or assist thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy and VATS.
• Manage ICU patients with ventilation, hemodynamics, and sedation per protocols.
• Conduct preoperative evaluations and participate in MDT planning.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery, and discharge plans.
• Lead shifts, ensure accurate documentation and billing, and maintain safety.
