Job summary

Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Physician Assistant to join our Thoracic Surgery team. The APP will support an extensive thoracic surgery practice across outpatient, inpatient consults, OR, and weekend call coverage. Schedule typically Monday–Friday with potential for four 10-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Acute care certification required for APRNs (inpatient experience as an NP will be considered in lieu of acute care certification).
• First Assist Certification for all APRNs; Illinois APN/PA licensure and credentialing through NM MSO.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations.
• Provides direct clinical care and prescribes medications within privileges.
• Orders and interprets labs, imaging, and procedures.
• Educates patients and families and documents care in medical records.
• Participates in quality improvement and research in the specialty.
• Coordinates care with collaborating physicians and other health professionals.
