Job summary

Albany Medical Center in New York's Capital Region seeks a Physician Assistant to join the Thoracic Surgery team, with inpatient care across services. You will work in a high-acuity surgical setting and participate in ICU care and multidisciplinary coordination.

The role requires NCCPA certification, an active NY PA license, and at least 2 years in surgical or acute hospital care, with CT surgery experience preferred. Competitive benefits and 24/7 coverage offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a surgical or hospital-based acute care setting.
• Skilled in ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care.
• Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide thoracic surgical and ICU patient care from preop to postoperative care.
• Assist diagnosis and surgical management of thoracic diseases.
• Perform thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy and VATS.
• Lead daily ICU rounds and multidisciplinary MDT meetings.
• Coordinate postoperative care and educate patients and families.
• Maintain infection control and documentation standards.
