Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join our Thoracic Surgery team, with duties across inpatient care and multidisciplinary coordination. This full-time role offers work in a high-acuity surgical setting while contributing to hospital-wide medical care.

Requirements include NCCPA certification, active PA license, and at least 2 years in surgical/acute care. Salary ranges from $124,693 to $145,475 with incentive bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with current NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a surgical or hospital-based acute care setting (CT Surgery experience strongly preferred).
• Skilled in ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for thoracic patients from initial assessment through surgery and postoperative critical care.
• Assist in diagnosis and surgical management of thoracic diseases incl. lung cancer, esophageal pathology, pleural disease, mediastinal masses.
• Perform or assist in thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy, VATS, and other minimally invasive techniques.
• Manage critically ill ICU patients including postoperative thoracic surgery cases and those needing advanced life support.
• Conduct preoperative evaluations and risk assessments, contribute to MDT planning and informed consent.
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures, ICU care plans, and discharge instructions.
• Coordinate postoperative care and monitor for complications such as bleeding, infection, or respiratory issues.
