The department recently celebrated the opening of a state-of-the-art surgical hospital and a new CVTICU, further enhancing its commitment to providing the highest quality of care.

The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, one of nine clinical divisions within the department, is at the forefront of advancing surgical care for adult cardiac, congenital cardiac, and thoracic conditions. The division comprises 9 faculty members, 8 APPs, and 6 integrated residents who work collaboratively to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

The Department is seeking applications for a full-time academic thoracic surgeon to join our Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The ideal candidate will have an interest and experience in all aspects of general thoracic surgery, including thoracic oncology, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, esophageal disorders (including malignancy), and lung transplantation. The chosen candidate will be expected to work closely with the various multidisciplinary teams within the hospital system to grow the surgical volume through referral networking with the assistance of the other thoracic surgeons at UNC.

Faculty members within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery must possess a desire to commit to all three missions of the department and school of medicine, including the clinical, education, and research missions. Regarding the education mission, faculty members are expected to regularly participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.
