Job summary

Rackspace Technology in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Third Shift Data Center Operations Technician IV to own IT infrastructure inside the data center, ensuring customer environments remain secure and up with 99.999% uptime.

You will monitor tickets, perform OS installs, RAID configurations, and hardware upgrades across Windows, RHEL, Ubuntu, and VMware ESX, including cabling and Layer 1 network work. This is an on-site full-time role with potential incentives.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining IT infrastructure in a data center.
• Ability to install and troubleshoot multiple operating systems.
• Hardware and network hardware installation experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and prioritize internal tickets to provide customer support.
• Perform storage/configuration tasks, RAID changes, and OS installs.
• Support servers across Windows, RHEL, Ubuntu, and VMware ESX platforms.
• Handle OS/networking setup, PXE installs, and firmware updates.
• Install or modify fiber/copper cabling and test connectivity.
• Install network devices: switches, firewalls, load balancers, security appliances.
• Mount hardware in cabinets and complete cabling for customer requests.

Job Description

Job Summary:The Data Center Operations Technician owns the responsibility of all IT Infrastructure, including customer configurations, within the data center environment ensuring all customer server environments are secure, operational and maintain 99.999% uptime.

Work Location/Shift:

• Shift: 3rd

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for monitoring and prioritizing an internal ticketing system to provide customer support.
• Provide basic operating system storage troubleshooting, along with storage upgrades, hardware troubleshooting and Raid configuration changes.
• Provide hardware support and upgrades for servers running Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Server, Ubuntu Linux or VMWare ESX Server.
• Simple operating systems administration can include, setting up OS network IP’s, fresh OS installs (using PXE), Firmware updates and basic OS troubleshooting.
• Installation or removal of fiber or copper cabling. Along with Layer 1 network skills, that will include testing, as well as connectivity issues with previously deployed copper or fiber cabling.
• Installation of network device hardware including switches, firewalls, load-balancers and security appliances.
• Installation of hardware on storage devices including DAS and NAS arrays
• Complete customer maintenances requests that include hardware modification, operating system installation, mounting of the devices within cabinets and completion of all cabling needs to be required.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The compensation range for this position ranges from $67,568.00/year in our lowest geographic market up to $90,125.00/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
