Qualifications

Advanced Firefighting Certificate required.
Basic Safety Training required.
VPDSD credential required.
Tankerman endorsement required.

Responsibilities

Handles engine department watch standing duties and oversees machinery control.
Oversees loading of engine department stores, bunkers and water.
Ensures PPE compliance and safety instructions are followed in the engine room.
Supervises and assists unlicensed machinist and utility staff.
Maintains and troubleshoots engine room equipment, including pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical systems.
Performs marine duties per STCW, ISM and Chevron procedures to ensure safety.
Attends required STCW/ISM/ISPS classes to maintain certificates of competency.
Participates in Behavior Based Safety, near-miss reporting and Job Safety Analysis.
Minimum one year service as licensed engineer on vessels with unlimited horsepower.
Familiar with USCG and MARPOL/SOLAS/ISGOTT regulations.
