Job summary

Altorfer Inc is offering a paid internship through the ThinkBIG Program, a Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology initiative in Illinois. Participants will rotate between Illinois Central College in East Peoria and an Altorfer branch for 8-week blocks during a two-year curriculum.

The program provides paid training, life-long skills in hydraulics, engine fuel systems, electrical systems, and more. Tuition reimbursement, tool insurance, and safety equipment reimbursement are included as part of

Responsibilities

• Support the Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology Program through a two-year rotation between Illinois Central College and Altorfer locations.
• Attend courses (e.g., Fundamentals of Hydraulics, Engine Fuel Systems, Electrical Systems) and complete an 8-week internship cycles.
• Participate in the internship while pursuing an Associate in Applied Sciences and benefit from tuition reimbursement.

Basic Duties

The Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology Program is a great opportunity for anyone interested in going to school to learn a skilled trade in a high-demand industry. Students will go through a two-year curriculum where they will rotationally attend Illinois Central College, located in East Peoria, for 8 weeks and then attend an Altorfer branch to complete an 8 week internship. This rotation continues throughout the duration of the program. A few of the courses they will take are Fundamentals of Hydraulics, Caterpillar Engine Fuel Systems, Fundamentals of Electrical Systems, Diagnostic Testing, and Undercarriage/Final Drives.

Qualifications

A drive for a career in service technology. Credentials including being a self-starter with good time management, planning & organizational skills, team oriented and commitment to detail recommended. Must be able to lift 75-100lbs. Ability to maintain an above average grade point. Basic computer skills with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must have or will be receiving a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position works in a warehouse/shop environment. May on a continuous basis walk, climb on and off equipment, bend and lift up to 75-100lbs. May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. May intermittently sit at a desk for a period of time to answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through email. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
