Boyd Company offers a two-year associate degree training program in partnership with Illinois Central College to become a Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician. Selected candidates are sponsored for an A.S.
degree with paid internships, alternating between classes and dealership work across multiple sessions. During the program, students learn engine fundamentals, hydraulics, fuel systems, electrical systems, and more while gaining hands-on experience in our service facilities.
This is a two-year associate degree training program at Illinois Central College with a goal of becoming a Caterpillar Dealership Service Technician at Boyd Company. Selected candidates will be sponsored in this Associate’s in Applied Science degree program that incorporates paid internships*. The program is referred to as the Caterpillar “ThinkBIG\" Dealer Technician Training Program.
This program combines classroom lecture and state-of-the-art labs with real-world experience through paid internships at a Boyd location. In class, students learn about engine fundamentals, machine hydraulics, Caterpillar fuel systems, machine electrical systems, transmissions and torque converters, undercarriage/final drives and more. During the two-year program, sponsored students alternate between going to classes (5 eight-week sessions total) at Illinois Central College (East Peoria, IL) and working alongside experienced technicians during paid structured internships (4 eight-week sessions total) in our dealership service facilities to experience their future career first-hand.
