Job summary

RTX is seeking an entry-level Thermal Engineer in the Mechanical Analysis & Test (MA&T) Department in Marlborough, MA. You will work with a large team on thermal analyses spanning design studies, qualification testing, and production support.

You will perform hand calculations, run detailed analyses, and develop test plans to validate models and hardware against customer requirements. Onsite role with opportunities to grow within a world-class aerospace and defense organization.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior experience.
• Academic or professional experience in thermal design and analysis.
• Working knowledge of mechanical principles to solve classical thermal engineering problems both inside and outside of software tools.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team‑based environment and independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform Hand Calculations to determine scope of higher detail analysis models.
• Perform detailed thermal analyses to solve various program thermal challenges.
• Generate test plans required to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to customer requirements.
• Support test setup and execution, analyze test data, correlate and validate thermal models.
• Work with experienced analysts on problems of moderate complexity to provide the answers needed under program cost and schedule constraints.
• Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews ensuring the technical accuracy of work product.
• Present results to internal, external, and government customers.
• Generate detailed documentation of work and archive for reference.
