Overview

Job Title: Thermal Spray Technician I
Location: North Clarendon, VT

The Thermal Spray Technician is responsible for performing HVOF, plasma and/or other thermal spray coating operations per customer requirements and job folder specification.

Responsibilities
  • Care and treatment of customer inventory; perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
  • Review job folder to verify area of part to be masked, cleaned and/or blasted and coated. Confirm all pre-coating requirements have been completed according to job folder specification.
  • Record and sign off on all applicable data defined in the job folder.
  • Report all coating problems, inaccuracies in the job folder, damaged parts and/or tooling and fixtures to Thermal Spray Lead.
  • Make appropriate use of coating materials, equipment and documentation.
  • Follow in-process inspection procedures as needed to verify current operation meets customer and technical plan requirements.
  • Completion of assigned spray operation in timely, accurate manner per work instructions.
  • Accurate documentation of required data within the job folder.
  • Attention to detail with a focused goal of zero rework and maintaining high quality output.
  • Excellent attendance with flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Assist supervisor in developing processes that will improve operations.
  • Ensure 100% on-time delivery of assigned projects.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with supervisor, plant leadership and co-workers.
  • Observe all Environmental, Health and Safety policy requirements, including:
    • Keeping work area neat and orderly at all times.
    • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Wearing appropriate respiratory gear when in the thermal spray booth.
Qualifications
  • CTAR compliance requirement: candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
  • Education: High School diploma and a technical certification or two-year degree in a technical field.
  • Working experience in a production environment with the ability to learn thermal spray processes.
  • Ability to perform mechanical measurements (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Organized, detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Good communication skills with co-workers and management.
  • Documentation skills with basic MS Office, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Previous Plasma, thermal spray and/or HVOF spray experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with large multi-axis robotics and associated programming tools preferred.
  • Advanced documentation and computer skills preferred.
  • Thermal spray process experience preferred.
Physical & Mental Demands
  • Must be able to work in a sitting or standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
